Stucco with a hint of Tint, Tile and Teak.

We finally got good weather a few days in a row and the Stucco operation was back in full swing. Will and crew showed up on Sunday to have the house all to themselves and get the final colored coat of Stucco on the front of the house. The Stucco crew got an early start and by mid-morning had made significant progress:

And by early afternoon, the stucco was on and he scaffolding was off.

Inside the house, the pink patches finally dried enough for painting to start and the first layer went on fairly quickly. It's pretty amazing how applying a bit of Titanium pigment suspended in a solvent to all the flat surfaces makes an empty building look like a home:

The other homey touch is Teak planks being laid down on the floor:

Like the first person to try to eat an oyster, the first person who decided it was a good idea to use one of the densest and hardest woods available as a walking surface for a house must have been more than a bit desperate. Fortunately for us, both experiments worked out fine and today many people happily stand around for hours on teak floors and eat oysters as a form of entertainment:

At the same time, the bathrooms are getting a layer of tile. This way, if we get tired of walking on the Teak floors, we can walk on slabs of rock or squares of mud glazed in a kiln.

The ever intrepid Jenn got into the act and tried her hand at tiling the bathroom floor.

Fortunately for all involved, after laying down the initial pattern, Jenn decided to leave the rest of the work to the professionals:

And here's how the floor turned out:

While Jenn is getting grout on her hands and tile installation is moving along, in order to balance the water pressure coming into the digital mixing valve, the crew added a pressure guage on the cold water line. This is very quickly starting to look like a submarine engine room:

Fortunately, we already have a power plant for the submarine:

And continuing the water motif, the fire suppression system (the "sprinkler" to normal folks)is finally completed and connected to the incoming water supply just in case the power plant gets hotter than we want it to.

Meanwhile, in the back of the house, the deck and fence construction continues apace:

The kitchen is ready and prepped for the installation of cabinets starting next week:

With all of this going on at the same time, it starts getting hard to keep up with everything that is going on all at once. Here'a a partial list of what we expect to happen next:

More tiles, more teak flooring, more paint, final trim, lights, toilets, sinks, faucets, shower heads, custom closet inserts, and weather permitting, maybe final stucco application. Not sure what the crew plans to do after Wednesday, but I am sure they will find something to do.
